Pioneering Ultra-Portable X-Ray Technology
Dopasi Foundation introduced ultra-portable X-rays equipped with AI globally for early detection of TB, particularly in remote and underserved regions. This was a breakthrough in TB screening activities, especially to reach hard-to-reach areas and Key Vulnerable Populations. The model includes comprehensive capacity-building for frontline health workers, equipping them with the skills to operate AI-enabled devices, interpret results, and conduct community mobilization at the grassroots level. By replacing large, electricity-dependent machines with low-power, solar-compatible portable units, the innovation significantly reduces the carbon footprint of screening operations—aligning with climate-smart development principles. Through collaborative training sessions, Dopasi has strengthened local health systems and enhanced resilience in settings affected by terrain, fragility, and climate vulnerability. The approach also demonstrates how digital tools and community capacity can be integrated to create scalable, globally replicable solutions.
