Reaching Out to Distressed Populations: Extending Rapid, Effective, and Lifesaving Response
At Dopasi, we work to integrate resilient and sustainable programs that protect vulnerable communities from the devastating impacts of disasters, which can exacerbate poverty and undermine their well-being. We also provide critical emergency response support, delivering lifesaving aid and services to those affected by disasters, while laying the groundwork for long-term recovery and resilience.
Pakistan is highly susceptible to devastating natural disasters, including floods, earthquakes, and extreme weather events, posing significant threats to human life, livelihoods, and the country’s economic stability. The 2022 Pakistan Floods were one of the most devastating natural disasters in recent past, resulting in 1,739 deaths and approximately $40 billion in damages¹. Triggered by heavy monsoon rains and melting glaciers, the floods affected over 33 million people, destroying nearly 900,000 houses and leaving a trail of destruction.
In response to these challenges, Dopasi Foundation is committed to reducing the impact of disasters in Pakistan. Our work contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG 13) on Climate Action, strengthening resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards. We prioritize supporting vulnerable communities, including those in refugee- and internally displaced camps, as well as host communities.
Our interventions focus on strengthening preparedness, resilience, and response capacities within communities and the systems they depend on for safety and resilience. We are prepared to rapidly launch comprehensive emergency response programs, addressing immediate health, WASH and nutritional needs while laying the groundwork for long-term recovery, resilience, and sustainable development.
